Kadazandusun People
The people in and around Kota Kinabalu have the Kadazandusun. Kadazandusun among the largerst ethnic community at Sabah. Usually their tradiotinally work as rice formers and live scattered all over the hills and mountain slopes.
Usually this ethnic have a white skin and like are Chinese look. The song title ‘Sayang Kinabalu’ by Kimin say about the Kadazandusun girl’s. At song Kimin say “altogether see, ‘melepak’ their skin….”
The Kadazandusun people consider themselves the guardian at Mt Kinabalu. They belieave this scared ground, a resting place for the spirit of their ancestors. It is because living around at Mt Kinabalu, so not unusual to see them scampering up and down the mountain. This reason give answer why most of them work as mountain guides and porters.
At Mt Kinabalu, we can visit at Kinabalu Park. At visit here not complete without jaunt to Poring. ‘Poring’ is Kadazandusun word for the bamboo speacies in the area. In here we can soak away the sores and aches of muscles in the hot sulphuric minerals of the spring. Also have curative power and very popular with the local.
The name ‘Kinabalu’ from the Kadazandusun words ‘Aki’ ‘Nabalu’. Aki explain mean ‘ancestor’ and ‘Nabalu’ is mountain; the sacred resting place of the ancestral spirits. his If anyone to know more, we can visit Sabah.
